Logish Empire Domain Names And Sites

Posted by logish on June 14th, 2008

Logish Empire Blog

I have recently opened by own domain investment online store, which develops domain names and websites. After some form of traffic or brandability has been established, the domains or sites will be sold to clients who:

  • Want a website to maintain
  • Want a suitable brandable web address for his/her site
  • Want a domain name with traffic
  • Or simply want to earn passive income from a developed website

While the products are not yet out of the oven, the Logish Empire blog will be a place where I share promotions and my experiences in the domain investment business.

Pessimistic and Risk Averse

Posted by logish on April 19th, 2008

Over these entries, I have talked about taking my domain investment as a learning opportunity. I have talked the talk, but haven’t been walking the walk.
Having failed (or at least I think so), I allowed myself to become averse to business and entrepreneurship. I wanted so much to make it big. However it didn’t happen. Not yet.

I have to admit, though words were easy to say, I couldn’t mentally accept my failure in domain investment. Then again, this may not be failure. I was ignorant of the demands within the market. I’m wiser now for sure.

Well, positivity goes a long way. There are people who are bidding for my domains on Ebay at least.

Everyone wants success. Yet, failure is difficult to accept. One needs to pick himself up from the muck and keep pushing through. It is through painful lessons that we learn and remember.

Auctioning Off My Mobi Domain Names

Posted by logish on April 14th, 2008

Sighs. I’m auctioning off my .mobi domain names at Ebay at a loss. No longer do I expect to sell them off at a profit or even at cost price.

Due to over anticipation of the demand for .mobi names, I spent over a hundred dollars for investment. The good news is, two of those auctions are receiving bids. Therefore, I’m going to place more domains on auction.

Good luck to me.

Building An Online Community For Revenue

Posted by logish on January 27th, 2008

In the last entry, I talked about whether to keep, toss or merge this blog with my main blog. I’ve decided to eliminate merging. This is to keep it in line with Ockham’s Razor; to keep unrelated things separate.

These days, my mind is totally off domain investments. I don’t like to think that I have over $500 worth of online assets that wil soon turn into liabilities. However, for want of latent revenue, I fully intend to develop 3 sites after my exams. The rest of them, I have no idea what I want to do with them.

After the initial hurdle of marketing the sites, the maintainance would be easy. I am of course referring to an online community. One that lives, breathes and generates its own content. And through the capitalisation of content, I can generate revenue through advertising.

I sound like the Brain form Pinky and The Brain. “And now we take over the world!”

Sorry, I digress. That’s really it. I have nothing more to offer.

Mistakes of 2007 and Resolutions for 2008

Posted by logish on January 1st, 2008

Happy New Year everyone! I’m contemplating as to whether to continue this blog or just toss it. With the reopening of school, I fear I may not have time to update it often.

I’m going to leave this open for another 4 months. In this period, you can expect the entries to come at at least once a month.

Before I move on to resolutions, let me analyze my investment mistakes. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Investing in domain names aren’t as easy as I thought it would be. I have yet to earn money.

In my list of mistakes, the worst two was to give excessive weight to speculation and to buy on impulse. If you’re familiar with the domain market, you’d be aware of the avant garde .mobi names. They are meant for users of mobile devices to identify a website that can be viewed in their device.

Despite it being backed by corporate giants like Google, Ericson and Nokia, it hasn’t caught on with consumers yet. The drivers of .mobi domains, seem to be domain investors, like myself, who aim to resell their portfolio of .mobi’s.

Sadly, it may take years for the .mobi market to warm up. I, on the other hand, am reluctant to wait and spend more money to renew my .mobi domains.

At this point, it is evident that my haste to make money, made me fail to plan and think through properly. It is in such a time that I see the importance of patience and insightful inquiry.

To conclude, I resolve to be patient when analysing investment and business opportunities, and be quicker on the uptake. While one has to be quick, impulsive buying does no one any good, except the seller of course.

Happy New Year.

Proposal Failure and Domain Names Put To Good Use

Posted by logish on December 19th, 2007

Hiatus over. I apologise for the delay.

Having said that, my team failed to charm the judges with our proposal to managing Cheers. The fault lies with lack of team unity and misunderstanding. We did well at the presentation, but we screwed the question and answer session. I won’t elaborate.

As for domain investments, I’ve put the below domains to use. I’ve set up free web hosting services, which are powered by Bytehost. Perhaps advertising will offset the investment cost.

Satisfy the Entrepreneur in me

Posted by logish on November 28th, 2007

I was asked by Joey to join his team to vie for the Cheers Project. The Cheers Project firstly is available to students of Ngee Ann Poly, regardless of course discipline. It represents the opportunity to experience the workings of retail businesses.

Well, as it has been a year since I joined a business-oriented event, the entrepreneur in me is craving to do something. The appeal in this Cheers Project is the power to alter how things are done, so that we can increase the number of customers.

I liken it to The Apprentice experience obviously without Donald Trump and the prospect of a high-paying job. However, the experience itself and receiving of profits is good enough.

I’ll keep you posted on this. And I know I’ve said the same thing about Microeconomics but I’ve been focusing on Business Statistics instead. As to how I’m going to juggle domain investment and this, let’s take things one step at a time. Haha.

Dot Mobi for Mobile Internet Users (not dot com)

Posted by logish on November 26th, 2007

Dot mobi domains are top level domains of the mobile internet. Websites with a mobi domain name guarantees that their site are compatible with modile devices. Certainly there is potential in the mobile internet market. With the advent of the Iphone, many posibilities for mobile internet browsing have been unleashed.

However, not many people know that mobi domains exist. Ask an average internet user and you’ll probably be replied with, ‘huh?’. The mobi domains have seriously been under-promoted. They’ve really got to reach a wider audience.

Needless to say, there are some who argue that mobi names have no inherent purpose. There are websites that simply redirect mobile users to its the mobile optimised version (i.e. Yahoo).

However, not many mobile users are willing to take the risk that less well-known sites wll also have a mobile version website. The cost of surfing is still relatively high. Therein lies the advantage of mobi domain names.

We just have to wait and see. The mobi is already gaining popularity but like I said, not well known to average net users. I may, however, be mistaken in the value of Mobi domains. But I think and hope not.

Empty Canvas and Microeconomics?

Posted by logish on November 21st, 2007

I hate staring at a rarely updated blog. It’s like a blank canvas waiting to be drawn on.

That said, I may not, in the coming weeks, be able to blog as frequently as I like. My project deadlines are nearing and examinations are less than 3 weeks away.

However, being an Accountancy student, I have to take a module on Microeconomics, which relates to my blog topic. Hence, I’ll attempt to explain microeconomic concepts in the simplest manner to revise for my exams. Case studies applied on my domain investments would be fun!

Forgive my enthusiasm. I’m expecting a high grade for this module due to my previous distinction in the Macroeeconomics module.

Anyway, I’m in a Christmasy mood already. The advertisers are bringing the season in early.

Merry Christmas! in advance.

Leasing My Online Property

Posted by logish on November 18th, 2007

The domains I’ve listed on the sidebar are for sale. You may, however, lease them for less than US$3 per month. As a promotion, I’ll waiver the fee for the first month. Email me: logishblog(@)gmail(.)com.

You’ll have to give me your web host’s DNS so that I can configure the domain to point it there. Since you needn’t pay for the first month, why not try now?

Here are some great free hosts you can use:
